The module uses Honeywell's digital compass IC HMC5883L and is equipped with an on-board voltage regulator to make the IC accessible to TTL level of 5 V. It can easily be accessed via I2C interface by using common microcontrollers, a Raspberry Pi or Arduino boards.
The shipping includes the shown breakout board and pin header.
